2010 University Festival

This was the performance of the High School Department during the Retro Dance Showdown.















It's the first day of our University Festival! Before we proceed to the Mass, we let our attendance be checked by the SASTE-SBS officers.















It's the first Eucharistic Celebration. It was started at 7:30 AM at the Student Center. Our department was one of the sponsors at this mass.















The Freshmen and the Seniors attended the Eucharistic Celebration held at the second day of the UniFest. The SASTE-ians were in their t-shirts per year level.















The opening number of the physically impaired persons during the Musical-Dance Showdown held during the second day of the UniFest.


They were the hosts during the Musical Dance Showdown. They did their job well!


This photo was taken during the onset of the KALESArade. It was held at the third day of the 103rd Founding Anniversary, right after the Eucharistic Celebration in honor of St. Paul.

Technology for a Graduating Education Student

Ms. Maria Visitacion Cauilan, a 4th year BSE student, shared some of her experiences during her practice teaching. She said that the use of technology is very significant in teaching. First, it catches and holds the students' attention especially if the technologies are properly used. For instance, the use of a slideshow or movie clip at the beginning of discussion, arouses the interest of the students. Second, technology use decreases the time needed in delivering the lesson. With the aid of computers, the teacher may simply present the topic using powerpoint presentation-there's no need for her to write on the board. Third, it increases the level of comprehension of the students because the sense of sight, hearing and touch are being used. For instance, presenting a movie clip of the different landforms of the earth results to lesser abstraction. Likewise, in using audio clip in the proper pronunciation of English words, and in letting the students play an interactive game on Geometry. Ms. Cauilan also uses technologies in making her lesson plan, research, thesis and other requirements. According to her, it makes her work easier and faster. For instance, in editing her lesson plan. She said that technologies are essential tools in teaching and in learning. Despite the many advantages technologies can offer, she still believes that technologies will NEVER replace the teacher! Lastly, the effectiveness of these tools depends on how the teacher uses it in her teaching.

The Youth in the Friendster World

Friendster, as the name implies, is a social-networking site where you can find and meet many friends from the different places not only here in the Philippines but also in other countries. Million of youths are already involved in this site because of its many features. First, it enhances the person's creativity because s/he will customize his/her own profile. Different applications are available for designing the profile like play lists, games, slide shows and many more. Second, it also tests the honesty of the person because s/he is required to sign-up the basic, personal and education information about him/her. Third, the user can view or send comments/messages especially to old friends even if they were in a distant place. Many youths, nowadays, are fun of keeping in touch with their friends and families. This site also reminds the user about the birthdays and latest happenings in the lives of their friends. It will give him/her the chance to greet their loved ones especially if s/he doesn't know their contact number. If you are fun of horoscopes, you can read it daily in Friendster. There are also many youths who are interested in it particularly love horoscopes for the teenage girls. If you have no load, you can also send text messages using this site. You just have to add the application for text messaging. Lastly, the user can also posts lots of pictures and blogs as well.
